Mamaroneck's Summer Leaf Blower Ban Now In Effect

Don't forget the rules on power mowers either.

MAMARONECK, NY — More and more municipalities in Westchester ban the use of leaf blowers between May and September.

The Town of Mamaroneck's annual ban on gas-powered blowers began Saturday.

Now there are some exceptions: the law does not apply to utility companies, municipal and/or school district emergency operations and for a period of up to five days following storms for purposes of removing debris resulting from such storms.

And don't forget to be considerate of your neighbors: It is unlawful for anyone to operate any power tool or equipment powered by an internal combustion engine before the hour of 8 a.m. and after the hour of 9 p.m. on any weekday and before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays in the town.
